The only assimilation I expect from Muslims is that which I'd expect from any group moving into this country: willingness to abide by this country's secular laws, and toleration of those who choose to practice other religious beliefs (even if they find those practices personally offensive). Expecting anything more than that is wrong.

The Muslims of the 21st century are the Catholics of the mid-19th/early 20th century. We look back on the Know-Nothings now and laugh. Future generations are going to laugh just as hard over this (so-called) "mosque at Ground zero' controversy. You'd think we'd learn from history!
